I got the flash from a local guy who already had ECU mapping custom done for another rider who brought his FZ10 in to get dynotuned. I also have a 3/4 system and I went with a ECU flash. Im also not convinced that a custom Dyno map will be that much better than an ECU flash. So which would you choose and why? I'm sort of not 100% convinced that an off the shelf ECU map is safe or smart, but im pretty sure it is. Also, if I ever want to race it or make the most power, the power commander is the best. The tuner was said that it takes a lot of time to complete this tune and they they custom map the bike for perfect fueling at every step. He offered me their "Power commander package," which includes the power commander, the install, and a custom tune on a dyno. The guy I was talking to on the phone was really pushing for me to choose the power commander option. They said they use ECU unleashed and they can flash in a map that should work well enough for around $350. It sounds so much better and so much louder, but I defintely hear some backfiring when I cut the throttle. I haven't ridden the bike yet, but I did run it to hear the new exhaust. So that means I no longer have a cat and I disconnected my servo cables. ![]() I just installed the Yoshimura Alpha T Race. I am lucky to have a shop close by that has a dyno and can also flash my ECU, but I am still learning the differences and wanted to hear from you guys which one you would choose. Having ridden it we think this is a usable tool, without the R1’s aggression, especially after the work. But it’s just the start… with a link pipe and a can you can expect 155bhp, but the real surprise is how the bike feels after the remap. This doesn’t sound major but off throttle is as important to how a bike feels out on the road as on, and it’s the first thing we sort. The throttle and ignition tables are a start point the MT-10 has a closed throttle feel similar to a boat anchor with a ton if ignition to ‘purge’ the cylinders of un-burnt fuel. There are a lot of tables within the ECU and they all need to be addressed, and none of it is simple. You can’t just bolt on an aftermarket fuelling module and assume its woes will be cured they won’t. We could then set about the actual mapping – and there’s an awful lot of work here because the engine is designed to run under EURO4 rules. ![]() This particular bike had a de-cat pipe and end-can so we switched everything off and dispatched the closed-loop lambda circuit. And they’re happy.Ī lot of the problem is down to emissions controls and interference. We’ve taken our time, but after a thorough investigation of the ECU’s mapping we can fix the poor feel in your right hand, with owners out there proving the results. Now our customers who own them are complaining of an on/off throttle feel in traffic at normal speeds, with the fly-by-wire control a hindrance rather than a help – and want to know if we have a solution.Īnd the answer is yes. ![]() In many ways it is but having worked on both a lot we can see some differences in the engine’s mapping… We think that people out there think the MT-10 is just like the R1.
